What is Ayuryoga?
Ayurveda and Yoga are two sister sciences that have the same perspective for different parts of your journey towards self-realization. Ayurveda and Yoga are the foundation and pillars to maintain health and self heal for growth in order for us to shift and connect to the higher conscious self.
There are many different ways to practice yoga, and it is Ayurveda that describes what form is best suited for an individual. The Correct path of yoga most suitable for an individual depends on what "doshas" or mind/body Constitution one is born with and taking into consideration the present imbalanced state of the "Doshas". Doshas represent how the elements (earth, water, fire, air and space) in this world relate to one another on both grosser and subtle levels. Hence the practice of yoga incorporating the principles of Ayurveda is called Ayuryoga.
Ayuryoga is the process of discerning the practitioners individual needs with the wisdom of Ayurveda and then applying that knowledge systematically to each persons mind body type and condition to enhance and heighten the awareness to the practice of yoga asanas (postures). This ensures that the asana practice will be performed correctly, using the correct poses in the proper sequence in order to alleviate diseases and heal the mind and body and maintain balance and harmony in the dynamic world in and around us.
Asana, or yoga poses, is one of the most effective ways to maintain perfect balance of your "doshas" and health. Yoga asanas are practiced in such a way to keep the body strong and flexible, keeps the spinal column balanced to support a free flow of prana, (vital energy) and prepares one for meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques). Asanas, like all of yoga, is intended to be suited for ones personal needs, including the needs of their "dosha".
At Healing Gardens Yogashala, we take an individuals Constitution into account and the classes are structured according to ones present imbalances. For example, when one is feeling lazy, sluggish, congestive, lethargic etc. we would suggest one to take Kappayasa Class. This class is designed to practice postures to open up the chest and heart and the class is fast paced so one can sweat out the toxins, feel positive and relieve tension.
When one feels anxious, stressed, nervous etc. we suggest one to take Vatayasa class which is little slow paced whereby one can be grounded and learn the techniques to stay calm, release stress and get a restful sleep. This class incorporates breath-work, light guided meditation and taking into account air and space elements making this a unique workout designed on what One is feeling that day. Our signature Sunday class – Yoga for All is unique 2 hour class that incorporates breath-work, meditation, live music with Indian raga based vocalist, making this unique class experience beyond your imagination!

Class Description:
Stress Management Class
This Yoga for Stress Management class incorporates breath-centric asana, various forms of pranayama, meditation, and guided relaxation exercises to create a general sense of health and wellbeing. This class is therapeutic in nature and is based on the unique needs of the individual. This practice can reduce symptoms of anxiety, tension, stress, and even depression and hypertension, by focusing on pacifying the central nervous system. The parasympathetic nervous system is induced by steady and smooth breathing, which activates the relaxation response. This movement of breath through awareness can help to return our system back into balance. Conditions and disorders of the digestive system, respiratory system, and the cardiovascular system are all linked to the nervous system. Relaxing into a present state of awareness is the goal of yoga. These ancient practices are relevant for our modern times to maintain health and wellbeing.
PranaShakti Flow
PranaShakti is the primordial cosmic energy inherent in breath (Prana is the Sanskrit for breath and Shakti means sacred force or empowerment). It is the primordial cosmic energy or the cosmic connection through breath.
Weaving sacred movements in alignment with the breath, this class is both invigorating and empowering, drawing the element of fire deep into the body, burning up the illusion of self doubt and fear, guiding you deep into physical bliss.
This class is open to all physical and spiritual levels and is very balancing for a Kapha constitution.
Triyasa
Spirit Flow (2 hours,
Sundays only)
A
Signature Class created by Simon (Karta) that blends the sacred practices of
Ayurveda, breathing exercises, meditation, ancient and healing sound vibrations
of the gong, plus many transformational modalities of yoga. Accompanied with
live music, your instructor will be your guide on an incredible journey beyond
your physical body, guiding you deep into the realms of the energetic,
intuitive, subtle mind, taking you to a place of peace, love, surrender,
stillness, and physical bliss.
Detox Flow
Practiced for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, detoxification is about stimulating, cleansing, and nourishing the body from the inside out. Using the fluidity of the physical body and the detoxifying qualities of the breath, in this class we will work at purifying the mind, body, and spirit. Each day we are exposed to toxins -- through the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the products we use. Even our thoughts and emotions, when negative or repressed, can be as unhealthy as a poor diet or sedentary lifestyle. Through sacred flowing movements we shall remove these physical and emotional impurities that prevent you from achieving your optimal health and maximum creative potential.
This class is open to all physical and spiritual levels and is very balancing for a Kapha constitution.
Yin Flow
Yin is the more passive, subtle Chandra or moon energy that flows through our physical and emotional bodies. Yin Yoga contains the ancient, and some say original, form of asana practice. The sages who pioneered the path of yoga used asanas to strengthen the body so that they could sit for long periods in contemplative meditation. If you have ever sat for a long time with legs crossed you know the hips and lower back need to be strong and open. The sensations you felt were deep in the connective tissues and the joints. These are the deep yin tissues of the body, relative to the more superficial yang tissues of muscles and skin. Yin Yoga opens up these deep, dense, rarely touched areas. Combined with the soft flow of a heart opening vinyasa to open up the nadis or meridian points of the body, this class will open the body and mind to divine liberation. This class is open to all physical and spiritual levels and is very balancing for a Pitta/Vata constitutions.

"Yoga is the practice and the journey into the Self. Yoga is the science of the Self. Ayurveda is the art of living, and Yoga is the art of being. Combining these two methodologies into real practice, into one’s life, can create a profound and harmonizing transformation. Through constant deep self-reflection and conscious present awareness, we can learn to appreciate more fully the subtlety and the richness of life."

Dipali is a trained Indian vocalist, composer, Vocal Coach, Music Teacher and theater artist. She started performing music at the age of 11, and since then has performed at International & National forums, on the radio and on BBC Channel Four. She has been conducting voice training workshops & teaching music for the past 15 years.
Dipali practices meditation via chanting and has developed unique strategies for chanting sessions. Set to Indian classical "ragas", she uses simple chants to create positive energy fields that unify the body and mind. She leads the chanting in a group setting using traditional Indian musical instruments. |
|
Each chant is a specific positive message to the self, repetition of which awakens and brings out different aspects of the consciousness. Set in a purified environment, with tranquil sounds and fragrance, this becomes an experience of spiritual awakening creating a healing energy for the physical and emotional self.
Dipali now combines her unique voice to create "raga"-based chants with AyurYoga practice, making this an experience beyond imagination!
